With one or two modifications it could represent any one of several nations' hussars................

Mike

Podpolkovnik (Lieutenant-Colonel) Denis Wassiljewitsch Dawydow (1784 - 1839), commander of the 1st Battalion of the (12th) Akhtyrka Hussar Regiment, became known in 1812 as a partisan leader during the defense of the French invasion of Russia...:

Lew Dawydowitsch Tolstoy erected a literary monument to him in his famous novel "War and Peace" as "Wassilij Dmitrijewitsch Denisow".

Here is the uniform of the Akhtirsk Hussars again - it was brown and not red, as is often misrepresented...:

The figure bears (or at least should) two awards - which Dawydow had received for outstanding bravery in the Battle of Preussisch Eylau in 1807:

First the order of St. Anna 2nd class with swords...

... as well as a golden saber with the inscription "За храбрость" ("Sa Khrabost" - for bravery") - the original, as well as his medals, can be seen in the uniform showcase above!)...:

Cheers

I have a feeling that you, Martin, are deliberately provoking me with your mistakes.
1. For a long time, there have been numerous corrections on the Internet that this portrait is not Denis Davydov, but Evgraf Davydov is Denis's fourth-cousin, and even here, on this forum, I wrote about this, and it was you that I pointed out this mistake.

In the portrait of Kiprensky, painted in 1809, Evgraf is depicted as a colonel of the Life Guards Hussar regiment, in the uniform of this regiment of 1807-1808.

And here we are talking about Denis during his service in the Akhtyrsky hussar regiment in 1812.

2. Not Lev Davydovich Tolstoy, but Lev Nikolaevich Tolstoy.

Sure, that's why I wrote, the uniform was brown and not red - just like you.;)

The picture with the red uniform is there as proof that Dawydow often - and wrongly! - is shown in a red outfit (I wrote it separately).

Reading carefully is sometimes helpful.

I saw it, but you did not indicate that the photo is a completely different character. I posted a photo of red mentics where, according to the text, I wrote about the Life Guards hussar regiment commanded by Evgraf Davydov, whose portrait you showed without indicating that it was not Denis. Perhaps you, too, would not hurt to read carefully.

By the way, of course, this figurine does not concern, but, Denis Davydov, until 1812 he was even a chevalierguard, namely:
since 1801, he was enrolled in the Chevalier Guard Regiment as an estandard-junker, he rose to the rank of lieutenant there, but for satire about higher authorities in 1803 he was transferred from the guard to the Belarusian hussar regiment. Because the guard had an advantage of 2 ranks, when he was transferred to an line regiment, he immediately received the rank of captain. But already in 1806, he was transferred to the Life Guards Hussar Regiment, again with the rank of lieutenant (from the line subunit to the guard). In 1807 he was appointed adjutant to General Bagration. For the period 1807-1810, he successively receives the ranks of Staff-captain and Captain. And only in 1812 he was transferred to the Akhtyrsky hussar regiment, immediately receiving the rank of lieutenant colonel (all because of the same difference in ranking between the guards and line subunits). In the same year he became a colonel.
