Common denominator? Mr. Gibson, also guilty of "The Passion of the Christ "......he's now made(and is in it) a follow-up "Resurrection", but with a modern slant. I don't think I'll be seeing that.

No me neither. Those dreaded words "with a modern slant" or "remade for a modern audience" virtually guarantee a woke mess and a travesty on celluloid.

"Modern slant"?? History is history, it is either portrayed correctly or it isn't history, merely storytelling.

Just to poke life into the embers a bit, "Kitbag" has been renamed simply "Napoleon ", and Vanessa Kirby replaces Jodie Comer as Josephine. Information supplied by the 'Fondation Napoleon'.

Keep poking Old Taff, it's only a bit of fun.
Makes me wonder why Josephine is being used - hardly the most significant part of the story.
I have the greatest respect for Stanley Kuberick who went to extreme lengths preparing for his abandoned Napoleon project. That would have looked phenomenal and it's abandonment was a great disappointment to me - then I read the proposed script - dreadful. Why? because he was going to cram every part of Napoleon's career into a two or three hour length. It would have ended up with about ten minutes in Egypt and had dialogue such as ; and I quote;-

Bourrienne - Excuse me General Bonaparte, but I believe this is an extremely urgent matter, requiring your immediate attention.
Napoleon - Come in.
Bourrienne - This despatch has just arrived from Aboukir, marked highest priority. for General Bonaparte's eye's only.
Napoleon - let me see it.
He opens the envelope, reads it and tosses it onto the table
Napoleon - Nelson has engaged Brueys off Aboukir, Brueys is dead and we have lost eleven ships.

Immediately following this is scene 67 which starts-

67. EXT - FRENCH TOWN -DAY , Napoleon rides in an open carriage, waiving.

Gripping isn't it? The rest of the script has great lumps of a narrator's explanation of what happens between scenes.
Spielberg did express some desire to take on Kubrick's project but that seems to have died the death.

I hope Mr Scott can restrain his ambition and restrict himself to a more focused and cover one specific period.

Just to hog the site a little longer;-
Anybody know anything about what's happening with Peter Jackson's Dambusters?

David

So many people criticised it before it got made, it was cancelled.

Don't worry. The BBC have now got it covered ...
