I don't know how accurate it is (not my era), but it is dramatic and looks like a hell of a lot of fun to paint. It's laruccia so I'm sure it's pretty accurate.

Ernest.., it looks like a horse for you ? It is a big war dog , a mastiff, the romans ( and not only ) employed in war usually launching these fierce dogs against the enemy cavalry, nowadays these dogs still exist in Italy, they were saved from extinction more less 30 years ago, they are called " Cane Corso " a sort of mastiff lighter and more dynamic than the heavier Neapolitan Mastiff .. some pics :

scary as hell!

CaneCorsoSecuritySystem1.jpg scary ? it is so sweet ....:D:D:D
At least for the dog we have no doubt for references...
but for the warrior ? I think that if we add a bronze eagle in place of the spear .. he could equally be an Aquilifer....
I imagine there are no references of the period for how was dressed a carthaginian warrior because romans destroyed all about his greatest enemy ...but It would be useful to know some comments from the very experts planeteers of the period ..
