This is stunning, beautiful work, wish I had seen this before my Xmas list :)

This is a superb sculpt and I don't see how it can look English, if such a thing can be made to look English 

Nice bust, not much original because Andrea Miniatures has the same subject. Anybody knows what medal he wears, I don´t know but it seems a legion d´Honneur with a polish ribbon.
I don´t see this kind between the polish medals I know..

This is not polish medal. It is more likely L'Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur. Many polish lancers were awarded by this during the service for Napoleon. The ribbon definitely should be painted in red.

As a interesting fact. The Polish combatants fighting for Napoleon were not allowed to wear this medal in Kingdom of Poland. They were allowed to wear a replacement were the Napoelon I medalion image was replace with likeness of King Henryk IV and burgundy lillies

...the ribbon is my error, due to a mistake from different photo during the painting process. The medal is a Legion d'honneur and the ribbon should be red (I'll change it as soon as possible).
About the concept...more than Andrea miniatures I think that original idea should be a painting of Detaille.
Apologies for my mistake...
