A Fixture
When I first came to the hobby in the ’70s, I bought myself a Pyrogravure from Historex. Unfortunately, in the ’80s I couldn’t see it being used again and gave it away. I’ve regretted it ever since coming back to modelling sanity (that’s debatable). Now, perhaps there’s an alternative. Trying to keep abreast of what’s happening in the general 3D printing scene, I came across “Modifi3d”.
This is designed as a heated 3D print-finishing tool but I thought it could be used where the old Pyrogravure was so brilliant in adding detail to plastic figures. And it can. It will also make marks on resin castings and slice through them with ease – although the needle tip I’ve tried is apt to bend with too much pressure, so be warned. There are three other tips included: a knife, a point and a scoop. At £23.99 in the UK it’s also very affordable and USB powered. The pic is of the pack and its contents. For details, visit: modifi3d.co.uk
Hope other pF Members will find this useful.
