This is an absolutely stunning sculture. I've admired Alan's work for a long time but this is simply outstanding.

Cheers

I may have to include this in my wish list. I find that when fantastic sculpts like this come along, I seem to expand on what I consider a historical period or fantasy genre that I find interesting.
Now I'll have to investigate this time period, which will included research and the inevitable purchase of this great piece.:)

An extremely dramatic and well-sculpted piece..... harrowing in its depiction of utter despair. I don't believe I know this particular picture; who is the artist ?
You always get a good sculpt from Alan Ball...this is a stunner.

Alan( another one!)

Very beautiful rendering of a dramatic picture of the Berezina.
But contrary to what many people think, "the Berezina", is not a defeat, it was actually a great strategic victory.
You have to read the latest studies of Jean Tullard, or conclusions of differents professors of military strategy from great academies, like "L'école de Guerre", West Point, ...

That lancer must be really strong to lift a woman and child out of the water with one arm, whilst trying to skewer the man in the water with his lance with the other and control a rearing horse. A dramatic piece for sure.

Fantastic model.(y)
I think when someone put the kit together they put the horse's ears on back to front, but I may be wrong:)

Indeed you are correct on this one. Here in Switzerland it is still celebrated in song as the Swiss regiments fought to the point of virtual annihilation in this battle.

As for books Histoire et Collections have a book about the battle in French and English. I recommend these books for their history and the inform plates if anyone is interested.

I think I'm going to have to break my budget further to get this one

Cheers
