Nice one Moz.

Top sculpt as usual. Superb details and nice pose.

Fantastic figure , so fantastic that heaven help me as it was pay day today I immediately ordered one from Maurices site - its a great figure well sculpted and I have a lot of respect for the men of 3 para who assaulted and took Mount Longdon, really loking forward to painting this and setting it in a gorse / heather / moon grass and rocky setting on a large base

Nice one Moz

best regards

Chris

Here are some photos for reference, every helmet had completly different camo scheme, and most of the windproof smocks had a small union jack on the right arm

Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for the pics , I was stuggling to find some colour pics do you know if the guys had DZ flashes on thier windproofs ? I am guessing not, will deffo sculpt some scrim onto the helmet though, thanks again for the pics
when the figure arrives I will do an SBS on Vbench
Best Regards Chris

I was serving in the 80's and don't ever recall any Union Jacks on Combat Jackets or smocks, Para's only had DZ flashes and airborne wings as far as I can remember.
Cap badges would also have been painted black, or pressed in Black matt metal as well, as we had Black Cap badges for NI/Flaklands Operational tours..

Jimmy is the authority on it as he was there.
I`ve done another arm for jimmy which goes over the butt, If anyone else would like the option of the other arm i will throw it in FOC, your figure has gone chris but i`ll send the arm seperately in case you want to use it.
All the best

This is a poor copy of this picture but in better copies you can clearly see the union jack on the right sleeve.

Hi Chris, no DZ flashes or wings on windproofs, we had got them off second hand off some Jock Regiment, and they nearly all had union Jacks on the right arm,
Some blokes wore their smocks for the attack on mount Longdon, I wore my smock as I wanted to be wearing a 3 Para smock when we would eventually get into Stanley, but the majority kept their windproofs on, I have attached a photo of a smock on Longdon, and two photo of a windproof in bottom left in Stanley and on the right on Longdon, hope this helps
bye for now Jimmy
this will get you into the feel of it,,, plus remembers our clothing was second hand and by the time we had walked across our uniforms were very weather beaten. also I would have him looking at where his gun is pointing, where you look your gun looks, ps if like to anything regarding uniform ect please ask,

Hi Jimmy,

Really appreciate you sharing your personal photos, experiences and recollections, as said bags of respect for 3 para and the rest of the task force who went down south, I was a soldier myself for 10yrs (1992 -2002) , was a FOOs ack, in the gunners - I remember in military history sessions at junior leaders they presented the attack on mount Longdon to us and it made in impression on me at the time, shortly afterwards I read Green Eyed boys by one of your fellas. Once again I really appreciate your help and advice on the figure, I will probably represent him after the battle (as the battle was mainly at night ?) with faded cam cream the works and the photos and links you have sent are invaluable reference material as well as interesting in their own right.

Anyway good health and all the best, in my way this figure will be a tribute to those who fought at Mount Longdon

Thanks again (Will get going with a Vbench SBS when the kit arrives)

Oh and Moz If you see this , thanks very much for sending the additional alternative arm

Chris
