Yes, definitely québécois do not have any affinity to France, nor France towards Quebec...however at this period there were very few beyond First Nations who were not first or second gen from France..post battle of Quebec francophones faced ongoing discrimination and emergence of Two Solitudes between the cultures..

History is told by the victors...discrimination towards Francophones by Anglo elite was rampant thru the 50s and 60s..I know because I come from an Anglo family and my maternal grandparents were outright racist...the result has contributed to present day reverse racism, bias in education...all sorts of stuff...

I've been reading about 17th century New France.It's amazing that the colony survived.If you get a chance watch season 1 of Barkskins. Pretty good show.I'm hoping for a season 2.
