This is one of our release for this years Euro Militaire sculpted by Mike Good and is a 90mm figure of Lieutenant Souter at Gandamak. The box art was painted by Eddy Vandersteen.

Mike have posted some picture of the master in the sculpting forum here

These is some conflicting information concerning Souters rank as a number of source have him down as a captain at the battle. But the regimental records show that he was promoted to Captain in October 1842 and the battle took place in the January of that year.

The kit will be available at Euro this weekend and will be on the website shortly afterwards.

Check at Red Lancer already has this and our other releases in stock for our cousins in the US

Thanks to everybody for the kind comments! It was a real pleasure to sculpt this figure and, finally, check it off my bucket list.

I don´t know why is he laughing:cautious:
Gandamak was a MASSACRE !!!! :(

Laughing? If you look at the bare castings, the face looks like he is grimacing and strained (at least to me), the expression i was going for. The expression is created by the lowered, furrowed brows and the wide open eyes - along with the slightly open and straining mouth. THAT could look like a smile if the eyes had more relaxed or raised brows. That is not how they are sculpted.

It may be the way the eyes are painted. Eddy did an excellent paint job! However, I would suggest that the pupil of the eye should be closer to the lower eyelid (Eddy's is touching the upper eyelid) with a bit of white showing above the iris. (For an example of this, look at my Nosferatu avatar!) This will give the proper terrified look to the eyes that i intended with the sculpting. I hope that helps......

Cheers!!

Mike

To me it looks like a snarl and my lad said it looked like a sneer definitely not a laugh to our eyes. IMO it's a very nice sculpt and an equally nice paint job

Many thanks for the kind comments on my paintjob!:)

Mike has done an excellent job on this figure, the sculpure of the face has definitely a sneer on it and IMO can not be painted any other way, and so I did. I don't think you could paint him with fear in his eyes, and surely I wouldn't paint him affraid, for which the eyes are not wide enough.

Anyway, I sometimes have a "smile" like that on my face when I look at my kids, and they know then that it's time to shut up.;)

I had the bare casting in my hands, and it's magnificent, guys! No clean up at all.
The figure is a real beauty! My compliments to Mike.

Cheers,
Eddy

A beautiful sculpt. Souter was the reason I got into figures and sculpting in the first place. I fell in love with Bill horans diorama in a military modeling years ago As noted there are many Souter figures out there but I think the face on this one is brilliant.

Great work.

Damn. Talk about a pedagogically sound education ...

But seriously, it strikes me what an excellent painter you are, and good to see someone still around who can do that in oils; your painting style reminds me a bit of what Derek Hansen did in the old days, congratulations ! (y)

And you're Flemish, eh :) good ! (y)(y)

Thanks for all the comments, the figure went down well at Euro. So give me a couple of days to recover and then this will be available on the website .

I've purchased one. Excellent sculpting and nice box art from Eddy.
The casting is very good.

Very nice addition to the Hawk range

Got mine through the post today. As said previously the casting is outstanding with next to no clean up at all.
Combined with a great sculpt and great boxart and with the information sheet and multiple pics of the painted fig included in the box
this fig is well worth the money.
Barrie.

I like this figure very much. Mike Good sculptures are top notch everything is perfect, not a news for anyone. My only negative point is why this is so big, I prefered seeing this pearl in 54mm.

PS: Someone wrote about laughing face, I didn´t see that, and if you look the figure from side i can only see rage.

Pedro.

After what seems an age this figure is now available from our website, sorry for the delay but due to technical issues we have had to build a new website.

Please come by and have a look and if you see anything amiss please let us know.

Regards
