Normally a fan of all things German (and I do admire the range of Scale 75 figures too) I have to say I'm not too keen on this one. I don't really like the face sculpt very much, it doesn't inspire me to want to paint it, although Jaume has done a cracking job himself with the whole figure. Also is it just me or does he look like his helmet's on the wrong way? Somehow it doesn't seem quite right.

Alex.

Beautifully painted but YAWN; another SS dude in camo:sleep: That said, I see some don't like the head sculpt, I actually do, it has charcter.

Jaume's paintwork is superb. To me the figure looks a little out of proportion. Alex is right, the helmet is on backwards. This figure reminds me of the drawing on the back of Squadron's Waffen SS in Action, although that drawing had the figure posed holding on to the saddle bags slung over his shoulder. Perhaps that figure would have been a little more interesting and inspiring. There are some fine features on this figure, but it just doesn't seem right overall to me. Regards, SG

I'm just bored by figures of glorified SS with a name; anonymous is history of uniform, but with a name it's a kind of glorificaton
"....The 8th SS Cavalry Division Florian Geyer was a Waffen-SS cavalry Division during World War II. It was formed in 1942 from a cadre of the SS Cavalry Brigade which was involved in anti partisan operations behind the front line and was responsible for the extermination of tens of thousands of the civilian population..."
The skeleton structure is a real plus for or friends who like to build their own figures; thanks for them

That left us with just a few subjects for modelling. Can we paint an allied pilot? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombing_of_Dresden_in_World_War_II
I think that these are historical figures: A waffen ss, Gengis Khan, a samurai or an US soldier in the war against Mexico.

WOW ! this is an awesome sculpt for me and doubly awesome painting again from Jaume !!!

To the moaners ..... ok real life there are handsome guys and the not so handsome .... this depicts a REAL looking guy ! how can anybody complain at that ?! its all there ! whats wrong with that face ?! its superb, he really looks to be dragging on that ciggy' ! never seen that depicted so well before .... the posture and head angle etc are really well observed and handled ! top marks to the sculpter there (y)

Some of the equipment sculpts look like they may need tweaking but nothing major surely ?!

And for those that moan "not another Nazi" lets remind you this is a MODEL SOLDIER, some may say A toy soldier ... HOW CAN this be glorifying the THIRD REICH OR SS ??!!!!!!! ITS NOT A 20 ft tall statue !!!!!!!!!!!! come on ! and beleave it or not, those that paint them are not NAZIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :ROFLMAO: and IF they were, surely they would be doing more to BIG UP the third reich than painting model soldiers that are a few mm tall ?????!!!!!

Its a part of history, it happened ! these figures are not depicting war crimes, not even combat usually .....

Bar humbug .... tis' the season of good will :)

Carlos

Well said Carlos. I for one am fed up with all this moaning about "unsuitable subjects". Military modelling is exactly what it says on the tin: MILITARY!! I for one was once in the military myself and like other soldiers knew that there may come a time when I may have to shoot someone (or worse). Thats the job!! So everyone who puts on a miltary uniform knows the score. We were all just soldiers, some bad, some good, all following orders. If the people who object dont like the subjects then turn to fantasy.
