Wow, I like the German Para, but I don't paint 90mm, is this some type of complot against 54's

This figure is well up to Laruccia's already high standards. The animation might be rather static, but the attention to detail, mould quality and engineering and fit of parts are all excellent. As is usual, his attention to detail is very good - Montefortino helmet, small bronze breastplate/backplate and bunched up tunic (of a very simple design) are all of the period, as is the large oval shield. This figure will make a very good companion piece for the 'Triarius' from the same firm. There are actually very few Roman figures from the pre-Principate period on the market, so anything that adds to this sparsely covered area is to be welcomed.
The only disappointment I have concerns the pila the man is carrying. There seems a general tendency with Roman figures to assume that there was only one design of pilum, namely that of a very long shafted weapon with a square cross section that terminated in a flat tang - this latter being fitted into a groove in the wooden shaft. This type, however, only really came into its own from the end of the 2nd century BC. Before that, the main type was socketed with a much shorter shank to the metal part. As this figure represents a soldier from the Punic Wars, a series of conflicts that after all were spread over more than 100 years (264-146 BC), there is no reason why he should not be carrying this design of pilum - it's just a bit boring that the same one is always used!

Maybe it's the lighting, photo, painting, long coat or ?, but the distance from the feet to the knees of the Fallschirmjager looks too short. I agree first rate sculpting, just that one quibble from the peanut gallery.

I think it's more due to the appearance given by the jump smock. When unbuttoned - the bottom part was supposed to be buttoned around each leg - the smock hung either slightly above or just below the knees, depending on the height of the paratrooper wearing. I think in this case the smock hangs just below the knees, giving the appearance that the shins are too short.
Overall, I think the uniform detail looks pretty good, as well as the field gear. I do think, though, that the brown in the pattern appears a bit too red and there's way too much of it on there.
