Thank you very much for all warm comments for this figure
For a long while, I had been occupied with a question "Why a bust figure cannot convey a story or a message itself?", and that simple question had automatically led to another query "Can't that goal be achieved through converting a composition of bust?"
One day in 2011, I saw a picture of a father holding his son in his left arm and smiling. It was just a simple picture but I suddenly realized that this image can have a great impact when combined with an historic figure. I called up my dear friend Carl Reid in England to discuss and embody this incomplete idea into a perfect one. We ended up concluding that we can give an humanistic message to people through showing a father and son promising each other to meet soon again. But the war was WW1 that they never predicted to become so crucial and it took away their smiles,
The moment that a father gives a hug to his son/daughter when the last minute is allowed before leaving to the battlefield, has always existed in any war history regardless of its size. There will be no other powerful scenes than this in showing the tragedy and the cruelty of the warfare. To achieve this image, Carl and I put much efforts in this new experiment and we finally got the outcome just couple of days ago. It was a long journey but I am very satisfied
To be honest, a lot of my friends worried about this figure when it was being sculpted and painted. Their worries were that even though the figure contains a meaningful message, it does not directly lead to an increase of sales. Of course, I knew their concerns and it was also a big worry to myself. It was truly hard decision for me and my partner when determining the retail price. However, one thing to be sure was that we can only develop this field more interesting and meaningful than before when continuously producing challenging and provocative products. New experiments and challenges can only suggest a way to the future. To that extent, I am very happy to introduce you this bust because I believe this is a small progress in the field of historic figure.
I appreciate for BH, Kim who was my partner for ST MODELS, MH, Hwang who helped me a lot when producing this product, and Carl Reid, my genius sculptor friend. I also devote this product to the WW1 veterans who could not go back to their families and fathers of children who have an hobby in miniature modelling.
All my best regards,
MJ, Kim
