Lance Buckets
I've noticed that Russian lancers did not seem to have stirrup mounted buckets to rest the lance. So what did they do? You can't carry it in your hands all day long.

Can anyone throw some light upon this? I recall seeing some illustrations of cossacks where they seem to have a small strap attached to the lower shaft. Maybe this was general practice?
