Thanks Robert!

Here is then an update on the Norman Knight. I finally found some time to paint the heraldry on the shield and surcoat.
I'm not very satisfied with the result if I look at the photo now. At the top of the drawing there is no contrast visible anymore.
So I'm going to add some more contrast on the whole figure. I think the lion looks more or less ok for a first freehand.
The surcoat still need some extreme highlights and shadows.

Thanks for looking and comments and critques are welcome!

Marcel.

Marcel you are doing some extremely job.
The skintone's are awesome.
You should try the sheets from Tommi to paint your lion. They are easy to use and great to work with. It will saved me nightmares on painting heraldy.
I wish they where there sooner.

Marc

Marcel, beautiful work on one of my favorite figures, looking forward to seeing this figure finished.
Thank you for sharing.

Cheers

Thanks for the compliments John, Marc, Roc, Paul and Fernando.

Marc: For sure I want to try out the sheets of Tommi. I want to buy some at the AMSS next year.

Paul: I have to lookup the color combination for the hair I will post them next time.

He's looking very nice so far. Since i'm still (considering myself) a newbie to the Hoddy, would you mind telling what the colours you used for the skin tones? I just want to do some experimenting with colours for a little bit ;)

Update

Tim and Daniel thanks for commenting!

I have done some more paintwork. I work a bit more on the 'lion' outlinging and shadows and highlights.
For the surcoat I painted all the highlights and shadows and started blending.
It's still not finished yet. Some more blending has to be done especially on the back of the figure.

The next step is to finish the ears and neck and surcoat and continue with the arms.

here some colors I used for the face and hair:

For the face I used the mixtures of Jaume, I only added burnt umber to the shadows to get a more tanned skin.
Base: Brown sand 876
Highlights: Basic skintone 815
Shadows: Burnt Cadmium Red 814 + very little Burnt Umber
Last shadow: Burnt Cadmium Red 814 + Black 950

For the hair I used more or less Ernest mixture:
Base: Medium Fleshtone + English Uniform
Highlights: Iraquian sand and Light flesh
Shadows: English uniform + Flat Black 950

Hope you like it sofar, comments and critques are welcome!

Regards,
Marcel.
