Hi Dominique
Good start I think you have achieved a good balance between the figure and base, I like the shield
A couple of minor things, I would have liked more "greenery" on the base and groundwork and a couple of black washes on the armour to tone it done a bit but apart from that Its a very good start. Excellent, Whats next on the paint table?
Cheers Dom

for your first figure its great !!! i think you have talent continue like this !!!

You did a good job on your first figure, much better than my first figure.

John's critique and advice is spot on, I concur with him.

Cheers

Indeed a neat paintjob for your first figure. I like the contrast of shadows and highlights...and your skin tones. On your next photo shooting...try a colored background....I believe that will improve the quality of your pictures.

Hi Dom, you did a fantastic job !
I especially like the way you recreated the mud.
Since I am doing it right now for a medieval subject, could you please provide use some details of the technique you have used to model the mud ?
Thanks

Fantastic debut figure...thanks for sharing it with us.

If I can make one observation about mud.

If you are posing a figure standing on muddy ground, remember that wet mud will flick and splatter up the front and the back of a pair of trousers. Knees, elbows and bottoms usually become very muddy too because those are the other major contact points with the ground (beside feet).

Remember, ancient and medieval people wore their clothes for days and weeks before washing them (or themselves), so when its muddy, the mud will accumulate on the clothes in layers and eventually becomes ground in to the fabric.

I'd like to see some mud on the bottom of the shield too.

I hope these comments help.

Cheers

Overall, I think you did a terrific job, and while I have never painted this figure (might have to change that soon), it seems to paint itself. That having ben said, I think you might want to work on the blending of your shadows and highlights, especailly the lowest on the tunic. BTW love the setting and mud.
