Hello everybody,
I've just started new figure for collector: Northumbrian Warrior, 8th-9th C. Figure is from Latorre Models, 54mm. I want to paint this warrior like on the picture below.

Best regards
Artur

A classic. I love the way the folds are sculpted on this kit. The pose is great as well. Show us pics as you get paint on it. If you have Mike Blank's book, he gives a nice sbs on painting this kit with the same colors you plan to use. He uses mostly enamel paint, however.

Thanks a lot guys! :)

Jason, I use oils. At first I paint the sand's overcoat than i make a shades by oil paints. Titanium white with a little bit of burnt sienna for highlights and burnt sienna with burnt umber for shadows.

Best regards
Artur

Artur can you expand a bit more about the flesh colors and that sand undercoat you are using??? I am using oils and honestly i am amazed of how your colors turn out!!!!!

Can you tell us what color you use for undercoat and some approximate mixing???

thanks

My friend Artur your start is always amazing. Having done this piece recently I have to say that's a pleasure to paint.

Hello!
Thanks a lot my friends, for your kind comments :)

Perilkis: I used acrylic undercoat (vellejo Iraqi Sand with German Campale Brown 4:1). Oils mix for shading: shadows - Burnt Senna with Burnt Umber with Titanium White (7:1:2); highlights - Titanium White with Burnt Sienna (4:1); highlights 2 - Titanium White with Burnt Sienna (9:1)

One more photo from progress.

Arthur,
your fleshcolors are spot on. What is the basecolor with oilpaint.
If i read it right, you use no oilpaint as basecolor. You paint just high and shade on your acrylic base coat??????????????/
