Kevin Peart invited me to post on here, my first time, with my latest effort: the long OOP bust of Nosferatu, sculpted by Mike Good some 20 years ago for Jaguar. Graf Orlock is, of course, Count Dracula, whom Stoker describes as "clad in black from head to foot." The challenge I set myself was to paint this old kit utilizing the newer painting styles inspired by illustrators and graphic artists, while trying to distinguish between different textures of black silk, wool, velvet, and frogging. I made extensive use of an airbrush for the first time, and used oils, enamels, acrylics, inks, and even rattle-can texture paint on the base. The flesh tones were inspired by Gericault's study of the head of a corpse, conveniently located at the museum where I work. I hope you enjoy it -- I've wanted to paint this for...well...over 20 years!
