Forward. What an incredibly busy and productive year its proving to be for Nuts Planet. Whilst I have reviewed a number of figures from several of their intriguing and diverse range, this is their first release, and my first review from their all new Ghost Company line up. If I were to categorise the figure I guess it would fall under military Sci Fi, this lends the figure well for being used in any number of settings and should prove a popular subject choice among modellers. Lets take a closer look and see if the figure holds up to the high standards we have come to expect from the company.

First Impressions. The boxing and packaging remains the same as it is throughout the range, in other words it’s pretty darn good! In fact in my opinion Nuts Planet provide some of the most practical and appealing boxing available. The sturdy cardboard does an excellent job of protecting the enclosed resin pieces while the impressive artwork of Ki yeol Yoon really does give a dramatic impact.
Inside the box the majority of the resin pieces are further protected not only by being placed in zip lock bags but also by being placed between layers of sponge. Only the large pieces are unbagged but this works perfectly well and once more ensured everything arrived in perfect condition with no damage or missing parts.

The Figure. This is a kit requiring assembly and consisting of X12 individual resin pieces cast in a light grey colour. There are no assembly instructions but it is obvious from the box art how the kit goes together. The box art also acts as a guide for painting. The resin is of a superb quality and a dream to work with. I could find no faults in any of the pieces with seam lines kept to the absolute minimum and flash non existent.

Main Body. (photo below) As soon as you take this part out of the box you realize what an imposing and highly impressive piece this is having been sculpted with outstanding skill from Ki yeol Yoon. Cast to a very high quality, regardless of the angle you view it from it positively bursts with intricate and extraordinary detail. Viewed from the front the lightly armoured mechanical suit looks superb with all of the accessories attached.

(photo below) viewed from the back and the detail remains highly impressive. The clothing worn under the suit shows very natural looking folds and creases while the various utility pieces continues to add depth and interest.

exo-16-617x1024.jpg

(photo below) the exo suit is just a brilliant concept that is brimming with detail. It has been sculpted over the under layer of clothing in such a way that it literally ‘jumps out’ adding a very realistic appearance.

(photo below) the combination of light armoured suit and the light utility clothing worn under works very well indeed.

(photo below) straps, pouches, accessories…… all add to the overall highly detailed appearance.

exo-13-818x1024.jpg

(photo below) close up…… the detail remains sharp and well defined, very nice casting with little needed in the way of clean up and preparation. The interlocking system for attachment of the arms works well being precise with a snug fit.

exo-14-662x1024.jpg

(photo below) a good combination, the figure and base work well together, this is going to form an impressive display piece.

Head. (photo below) Easily summarised in three words…..’very nicely done’ would cover it. Plenty of good detailing to get to grips with all of which is wonderfully well defined. The hair and beard look exceptional while the facial features are strong and well proportioned.
exo-3-1024x815.jpg

(photo below) excellent sculpting has given a very nicely detailed character

exo-4-1024x768.jpg

Helmet. (photo below)It’s not possible for the figure to be posed wearing the helmet, this is purely an accessory piece to add to the scene if you so wish. Nicely done and a great addition.

exo-6-1024x768.jpg

Ammunition Pouches. (photo below)Not too much to write about here. Two very simple utility pouches void of elaborate detailing entrusting to the keep it simple policy.

exo-7-1024x803.jpg

Left Arm. (photo below) I just love the ‘armoured’ hand with its mechanical features and appearance. Detailing on the individual fingers is stunning while the rolled up sleeve, elbow pad and shoulder armour all combine perfectly well for an authentic sci fi look.

exo-9-1024x861.jpg

Right Arm. (photo below) All of the glorious detail we saw in the left arm continues here with the right with the inclusion of course of this awesome looking carbine gun.

exo-10-1024x768.jpg

(photo below) the carbine bullpup gun looks totally awesome. The slide rail has a red dot laser sight while the shortened suppression barrel and vented sides add great detail.

exo-11-1024x768.jpg

(photo below) a close up of the exo suits mechanical parts. Here on the shoulder armoured plates you can see the attachment points for the pistons to be added once the arm is fixed in place.

Pistons. (photo below) Four individual mechanical pistons finely cast that will need fitting between the shoulders and torso once the arms have been fixed in place.

Display Base. (photo below) Definitely an improvement on the usual plain disc or plinth we have been used to until now. Lots of texture and varying levels add to the visual interest of the crumbling concrete. This gives a good starting point for you to add further effects if you wish and is a very welcome upgrade.

Synopsis. I like it, I like it a lot and I’m already looking forward to future releases from the Ghost Company catalogue. A very well sculpted figure beautifully cast to the exacting standards we have become familiar with from this prolific company.
Heaped in magnificent detail there is stacks of opportunity for those that love all of the intricate detailed painting this will offer. The subject choice of military sci fi is one that should prove popular and the 90mm scale should also appeal to a wide audience.
Once again Nuts Planet have given us a wonderful example of how a figure should be produced, these guys sure know how to market a winner. In every area from concept through to final production they have nailed it where quality is concerned. My congratulations to all of the team involved in this project.

Thanks for the review! Yes, this figure would go very well with the Sf3D / Maschinen Kreiger suits. If I may ask Martin, how tall is the figure to the eyes?

Thanks for the comments guys, as always, much appreciated. OT, regarding the measurements, I will take an accurate measurement tomorrow and let you know ;-)
Regards,

Martin.

It is a great figure, but unfortunately, it is not compatible with Maschinen Krieger figures and kits. One of my fellow MaK builders has bought the figure and compared it to the figures and kits, and found that it is 90mm, not 1/20. His review is here: http://maschinenkrueger.com/forum/index.php?topic=9554.msg138319;topicseen#new

This is not intended to discourage anyone from buying this figure, for the figure's sake. I just want to make it clear for any other MaK fans who, like me, thought that it could be used with our other models.

Prost!
Brad

Thanks again for all the constructive comments guys.

I have just taken some measurements, from base of foot to eye level is 88mm, from base of foot to top of hair is 94mm. Hope this helps, kindest regards,

Martin.
