Started work a few days ago on this very nice bust:
I primed with Humbrol Grey Primer #1 from a rattle can before using the very good AK Interactive Flesh and Skin Colours set to build up the head's skin tone. I was trying to go for a sunburned look, so added extra shadow tone to the cheeks, nose, and chin. I then put a thin layer of light flesh over this to blend it into the rest of the flesh tone.
The scarf he is wearing was base coated with Vallejo Luftwaffe Uniform, highlighted with Vallejo Sky Grey, and then washed with a diluted Vallejo Black Wash. Finally, I highlighted again with Vallejo White. Some light dust marks were made with Vallejo pigments European Earth mixed 50/50 with Desert Dust and a bit of water. (They might not be visible in the photo as the light sort of washes it out, but in person it is quite visible.) The tropical helmet has been base coated with Vallejo Desert Yellow thus far and will be highlighted with an AK sand weathering pencil at some point. For now I am focusing on the uniform itself.
The shirt has been base coated with Vallejo Russian Uniform WWII and will be washed with a diluted black wash before being gradually layered with tan colours to show signs of sun bleaching.
Overall very happy with how it is turning out so far.
