WIP Odin 70 mm

Hello everybody , I’m glad to present you the new release for the company Historicart Miniatures , a figure that I liked to make both for the subject matter as the drawing that was inspiring me. Well , I'm reffering to Odin, the major god in Norse mythology and the ruler of Asgard.Here is the picture:

What has influenced the concept of this project was the famous sculpture made by Michelangelo's genius, Moses. At least this was my goal of obtaining an effect of a classical sculpture :

In the first batch of photos you can see the figure in position on the throne improvised:

In the second montage of photos the figure has the basic anatomy and the two ravens on one hand and the other. The commissioner and I have decided to remove the two dogs not complicate too much the composition, etc. It took me a while until I found the composition of all elements.Next time I'll be back with more pictures.I hope you like these :

Hello again, thank you for your interest and the kind words.
Here I have the photos I thought as a second step.Finally the raven from the left is descending and I think that greatly improves everything in the composition:

With this move, I realized that the character has little place in his seat and I opened the angle of the arms of the throne.Until then, the arms were perpendicular to the backs.At this step the separations are made,but the cape that has many wrinkles and extends everywhere gave me a lot of problems:

Finally I have more detailed pictures of the face.I was watching Underworld trilogy that time and the expression of the british actor Bill Nighy in the role of Viktor impressed me a lot. Maybe there are some similarities :

[FONT=&quot]Hello everybody, here I’ll finish my WIP with the last photos. Maybe I have treated this project in a more egocentric manner due to its subject and connections I could make working on it. As Jesus Martin explained in the other thread from the Figure News we prefered the portrait has the both eyes and we thought it will be easy for those who want to paint the copies to make changes just to respect the legend details. On this step I made a change with the position and I mean I brought the left leg [/FONT][FONT=&quot]further forward[/FONT][FONT=&quot].This change helped in different ways : on one hand it makes the leg seem bigger [/FONT][FONT=&quot]and this[/FONT][FONT=&quot] increases[/FONT][FONT=&quot] the impression of[/FONT][FONT=&quot] monumentality[/FONT] (the main purpose of this project)[FONT=&quot]– on the other hand it improves the main angle view. That explains the fact that you can watch the figure from a higher point to see the details of the wrinkles [/FONT][FONT=&quot]without[/FONT][FONT=&quot] disfavouring the[/FONT][FONT=&quot] proportions[/FONT][FONT=&quot] of the legs. Anyway the anatomy was measured at the right moment , but generaly when the figures “get dressed” the proportions can change and its necesary to make arrangements.Many thanks for your interest in this figure and like always your comments are welcome. Hi Paul,
If your goal was to create a monumental looking figure, then you have surpassed this by miles. The imposing look on the face is truely magnificent. You certainly have captured the classical look. If I did not know this was a model and just saw the finished figure photograph I would have thought it was a classical sculpture form a museum.
BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO- this one is off the 5 star rating system.
