Hi guys,
Just some (not very good) pics of my latest attempt at painting! Painted in enamels, the odd glossy patches are tinted satin varnish; an attempt to create an ink-type wash. When matted down, this seems to work quite well! One of my own sculpts, He depicts an officer of the 38th South Staffs Regt at Guadaloupe in 1759, their first battle honour, shared with the 64th North Staffs Regt.
I will post more when completed,
Cheers,
Steve(y)

Great work Steve , i love the expression of his face, you captured that really good.
Fleshtones are great and the red is very well painted , i like the contrast between lights and shadows.
One thing i want to mention is the yellow , it looks too "fluorescent" to me ,it may be your camera setting or the lighting of the room when the pic was taken.
I believe the yellow in British regiments is a more Dulled yellow , unless this regiment had "lemon Yellow" like some of the French regiments .
But in any case , this is just my humble opinion and i really admire the fact that you sculpt the figure , and paint it with an outstanding result.
Best regards

Cheers for the comments, much appreciated! The yellow turnbacks are less vivid in reality but do need to have a highlight added along the fold which will probably tone it down a bit - a least thats the plan!!

Which yellow shade did you use as a base?
