Well this is a first for me, I have actually completed a bust.

As I'm sure most of you know he is the Scale Collectables bust and a very good bust it is too, he says from his extensive experience with busts!

I got a wooden column base to put him on from Miniature Heroes UK, again not something I do very often. All painting is in acrylic over a cellulose grey primer, and an enjoyable painting project it was, I reckon though I will do a bust again it won't be for a while yet.

He turned out lovely, I hope you're pleased with it. I would be.
Scotty.

Oh yes very pleased, it was a bit of a learning curve and something new and challenging which always makes it more enjoyable. Many thanks for your kind comments.

I have been following this as I have it to do. For your first large scale bust it has come out very nice indeed.
I hope it has given you the inspiration to do a few more.

An excellent job Simon, are you happy for me to add some of your pics to the website gallery and the FB February competition

Mike, thanks for following the thread and for your comments. I won't be turning into a devoted bust painter, I have my eye on one I'd like to do but not any time soon.

Mac, thank you for that and making the bust available in the first place. By all means add the pictures to the gallery, it's all good advertising.

Hi Simon

WELL DONE on this , you’ve done a nice presentation , doing both the sculpt and Scale Collectables credit , for you it’s been a learning curve so pat on the back for you

Good fun V bench here as well https://www.planetfigure.com/threads/officer-of-the-24th-anglo-zulu-war.628392/

Look forward to the next project no matter what it might be ...but remember keep your eye on that bust you mentioned

Happy benchtime

Superb job. For your first bust it's absolutely amazing.
Excellent brush work all round.

Hope to see more larger scale models from you in the future.

Malc

Tidy work mate. Got some really nice results there.

And the plinth colour plays nicely with the rest of it to top it off!

Many thanks Kev, it was enjoyable and as you say a learning curve, I had some good advice from your good self and others. I'll never say never but I want to stick to figures with legs for a while.

Many thanks indeed Malc, I did better than I thought I might, more pleased thati finished it. Got quite a queue going at the mo, some up to 75mm, don't want to do anything larger for a little while.

Wow! I like the understated look! Very realistic.

Thank you most kindly, I tried for the subtle approach, though I can't claim I had that idea when I started but as I progressed that seemed to be the right approach.

Cheers Simon
