Great painting, just an historic little detail, the kepi was quite never colored in this time for infantry subaltern Officer (lieutenant), except for some in GQ, or in permission in town (but permission were very rare for the subaltern), your officer is quite more an aviator than an infantry (colors of the kepi).

As you wrote "very rare" does not mean never...... you catched my painted soldier in that "very rare" moment ;)

I have also documents and files of that. I have chose this kepi because I wanted to give more color in an artistic view and scheme color.

Thx to all for your comments. (y)

I'm OK with you, you catch it in a special moment.
Just knowing well this period, one gran-father, 3 uncles in the trenches, photos from them, also knowing the history for the period 1914/15, i always try to add a little help to great painter, and great sculptor also.
Best regards.

No problem my friend.
I also have a lots of books in my collection. And I have started to read about this war few years ago, and I became really passionnate with that WW1.

Anyway, we need some guys like you to help us when we do some mistkes (y)

I haven't saw that you were French, so you also understand the place how take the WWI in people mind in France.
But now with history school reform, i'm not sure that the next generation could understand that this war have repercussion now.
Hope there's more sculptor how make figures from this time, particularly 1914 /1915, with the moving on mind and uniform of the armies (French, Belgian, British, Russian, German etc...).
Best regards.

I have all the TOMMY'S WAR figures, great figures, with the reals cap (& collars badges) represented.
But if you want to change the regiment, you must have the "Cox", Imperial Badges of the British Empire, wonderful boook highly recommended, with all the cap bages of the Empire in full size.
But:cry: the book is out of production.
Another thing, if you want to make a Canadian soldier of the CEF, you must change the Enfield for a Ross, normally TOMMY'S WAR make one.
What i mean in my message there's no real range of figures, same scale, for the beginning of the war, 10 heresTW, 9 there, 3 in other... And the colorfully armies are forgotten :
Serbia, Russia, Austro-hungarian, Turkish...
Yes, there's Masterclub, but sincerely quality depends on the sculptor.
For WWII, thousand and thousand figures, germans in all position !
WWI very good and interesting figures, all scales not more than 100, if i include The FUSILIER, hope he'll be back in the business, ok 200!
Which misery !!!!
Hope that change!

JMD has some quite nice WW1 figures.

I have all WW1 range from Metal Models and I also have all Tommy Wars.
I plan to paint a WW1 figure every 2 or 3 figures that I will paint. And so until 2018.
Its my way to remember that war and for the 1 century birthday.......

I have started with the French Dragon 1914 that you can see in my Vbench page.

Didier Dantel (the french sculptor) is a friend and I4m really happy he sculpted all those figures.

Beautiful work Jean Paul. The blues are equisite! I also agree with others that the face is very well painted. This model has so much character!
