Hello everybody!

I finally got my 1/35th (OK, maybe he's a bit larger and rather 54mm scale) pelican finished, painted as a victim of an oil spill.
Next, I think I will do a figure for a change! :)

All comments and criticisms welcome!
Best wishes,

Marijn

Well done Marijn (hope you are well mate)...you manage to show a great appeal even in a subject that shows us our environmental failings.

Hope to see it up close one day...I imagine it's tiny..!!

All the best...Roy.

Very nicely done! I love the variations in the colors of the oil you got on the bird and the drips are a great touch! Very creative and sort of sad all at the same time.....

Very original idea!!i suppose many modelers would like to paint some stuff of yours if they were availiable in the market .have you ever thougght aobut it?

Thanks guys!

Thanks Roy! I hope you are well too! Are you coming to Darlington, as I should have it with me there? The size is quite OK, as these birds are really quite large. from the top of the head to the tip of the beak measures 2cm.

Thanks Dimgall! Yes, I have thought about it, but it would bring too much fuzz around my hobby. I prefer to focus on what I really like doing: making little 3D stories. Sculpting castable stuff for production, and certainly production itself would slow me down too much and take the fun out of it for me. At least, like this I stay productive... :)

Best wishes,

Marijn

LO Marijn
the scene is of topicality.
In France the "ERIKA"'s lawsuit start for the shipwreck on our coasts.
Your pelican is great and your imagination too.

PS: OK for the euro cents )

Marijn,

Dat wordt moeilijk dit jaar om een goede tegenstander te vinden op de AMSS show.
Je laatste stukken zijn kunst.

It is gonna be a tough one this year for finding a competitor at AMSS.
Your latest sculps are pieces of art.

Marijn,

Very nice but too bad the poor fellow is covered up in all the oil, your sculpting of him was really nice and it is a shame to see it all covered up. I like the oil effect that you have on him.

A side note, many years ago when I worked at the Cape Canaveral, I was on patrol one day and saw the funniest thing, it was a pelican floating in the ocean with a sea gull perched on top of his head! It remained there for about 5 minutes and then flew away.

That is some excellent work Marijn. A very hard paint effect to pull off, but it does look convincing, I bet even more so in person.

Is the shine acctually shiny or is it all paint effect?

Great job Marijn

Man, Marijn, another great vignette..... I remember a few years ago when I first saw your 'Goose Meal' and 101st Dalmation dioramas and wondered how you did it, and now, even after reading some of your articles and seeing your stuff in Military Modelling, etc, I still wonder how you do it! Great job again........cheers!
