Hi,
A little whiile back I was asked by Kostantin (Shturmovik on HF) if I could help him out with somthing. He had seen my short video on stippling and was wondering if I could make a video on blending oil paint. I had just bought a new digital camera that would shoot video as well so I thought I'd give it a try.
I ended up shooting almost 15 minutes of video with narration.
The file was too big to email so I burned a copy on DVD and mailed it to him. Another member there, Laurent (Asmodai1973) asked me for a copy as well. He also offered to convert it to a format with a more manageable file size and to then post it on line for me.
Here is the result...
video
It's a basic demonstration on applying and blending shadows and highlights along with using the stippling technique.
I hope it ends up being useful to you too.

Craig that's a great video indeed. Showing exactly and very effectively how blending is done. Thanks a lot for sharing it.

Hi Craig,

Ten points for Craig.

There isn't enough praise (at least from me) for this video.
A wonderful video, the full history of the process plus the audio, makes the understanding of the technique very accessible.

The enumerous threads with explanation on techniques and mixes, that have surfaced in this forum, are to be praised as well (I don't want to sound to be ungrateful and rude) because they show the spirit of this forum: share and help.

Good work and thanks to all of you.
Now for the tricky part.
Are there more volunteers for other techniques (face painting, glazes, etc...)?
And (here I go again) what about sculpting?
The world of the lesser talented would thank you a lot.

Now back to you Craig.
How can I download the video?

Thanks.

All the best,
Paulo

Hi guys,
First of...thanks for your kind words. I really appreciate it.
I consider myself no more than an average figure painter. But I know that I wouldn't have reached that level without the help I received from others willing to share their knowledge. It makes me feel pretty good to be able to pass that knowledge and help along to others.

Paulo, I haven't figured out how to download from that site. I've emailed Laurent to see if his converted version is small enough to email. If it is, I'll be happy to pass it along to anyone that wants a copy.
The original .avi format was a whopping 750 megs! Way too big to email out. that's why I had to burn it to a data DVD and mail it to him and Konstantin.
I'd be happy to do that for others except that it's getting a little expensive to do so :(
I'll keep you posted.
Craig

.

Craig, always great to see someone take the time and effort to put together tutorials such as what you have done here.

Ten out of ten for your effort!

Cheers,
Jeff.
