Good afternoon all.
In my ongoing search to save money on the extras in the hobby I was in The Works store yesterday and picked up excellent wax paper mixing palettes for £2. Great product at a great price considering the art shops sell them for £7.
Here's a link to their website with the product.
Cheers and good luck.

You've got me there Mark...good to see some folk are tighter than myself...;)
The only thing I've found over the years is that if I want the colour as a reference for the next session it helps to have it on the palette.

Hi
Grease proof and baking paper from Sainsburys.
Comes on a roll......10 metres x 380mm wide,
cant remember how much it cost
have had it for ages
use it for oils ..............and in my wet palette for acrylics

Styrofoam picnic plates as per Danilo. The oil seems to seep into the styrofoam similar to the Card method.
I save all the plates until the end of the project for reference.
cheers frugally,
John

White tea or rather coffee plate, both sides being used and cleaned with white spirit and yes toilet paper after each session. It will last until someone drops it, probably me!
cheers,
Piet

I use a ceramic palette, too, Japanese, looks like a stylized chrysanthemum, with a well in the center, surrounded by 6 other wells. Easy to clean and maintain.

I also use cardboard or brown paper bags sometimes, too, when I want to let some of the oil leach out of paint. The cardboard and brown paper wick it away.

I've never used plastic, but I'd be concerned that the solvents we use would eventually attack the plastic, if we leave the paint on long enough.

Prost!
Brad
