Hi new to this site and looking for some help. I'm interested in painting Afrika Corps uniforms. I prefer to use oils and enamels. Could anyone help me with the mixes(main color, shading, highlights) for the green color and different shades of yellow uniforms. Any help would be grateful.Thanks,Bob.

Hi Bob, and welcome aboard!:)

Like you, I paint with oils, but from time to time, when need occurs, I also use acrylic paints.

When I paint AfrikaKorps uniforms, some of my primary colors would be titanium white, yellow ocher (or gold ocher), burnt sienna, raw umber, and lamp black. For your starting mix, use yellow/gold ocher with burnt sienna, raw umber and titanium white, until you find a mix that you like. For highlights add more titanium white and yellow ocher, and for shadows add raw umber (for darkest shadows use lamp black and raw umber) . For a subtle greenish hue, you can add some olive green or any other green you like, as long as you are satisfied with your mix.

Of course, this is my way of painting, and if someone has another option or way of painting, it would be nice to share his thoughts with us.

If you have anything else to ask, don't be shy, there are many great painters and people on the PF who would gladly help a colleague figure painter!:)

Cheers:),

Nemanja
