I've decided to hang up my moderating hat, and apart from quietly lurking to check out new releases, probably take a break from pF for a while. I've let Pawel know via PM, so expect my account to be downgraded soon.

It's been while coming (I'd been thinking about it even before Tommi's announcement at the weekend), but I've now come to the conclusion that it just ain't worth the grief and the hassle.

Tired of periodically getting sucked into squabbles and issues between members, and almost inevitably pissing someone off as a result (ironically in most cases people who aren't even directly involved, but who take it upon themselves to get involved anyway). It's even reached the stage now where I'm finding myself called upon via PM to explain & justify action taken (or indeed action not taken) by other members of the moderating/admin team, not just myself. And I'm not having that.

In short, the amount of **** I've had to deal with lately behind the scenes has been starting to impact negatively on my enthusiasm for the hobby in general, and stressing me out. And when you get to that point, I reckon it's definitely time to bale.

On the plus side, over the past 20 months I've received support from many quarters and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has given me their backing during that time. It's always been much appreciated. You guys know who you are. Others have at various times called for "less moderation" – so I'm now happy to oblige!

Looking forward now to returning to the back benches, and maybe just posting from time to time as a regular member. So Pawel, Carl, Kev and Kaz: it's all yours now Gents. Best of luck!

- Steve

Footnote: Kev has agreed to have a go at carrying on the FOTM feature. It would be a shame to let it slide, but carrying on running it would feel too much like "modding" so I'm handing over the reins on that as well.

Im sure you have thought long and hard and I wont try to dissuade you.
I would like to thank you for the time , effort and and all various contributions you have made,
along with the help you have given me personally.

Dont hide for to long.
Take care and good luck
Mick

Thanks for all your time and effort Steve - it has been appreciated.
Hopefully this change will give you some time to focus on the parts of the hobby you love.
I do hope Kev keeps the FOTM feature running as its starting to settle in and get a good number of responses now - well done for setting it all up.
Cheers
Mat

Hi Steve ,

No doubt a real hard decision but when it's affecting your enjoyment it time .

As for FOTM ...I will try to maintain this as its a thing that's good to have so look forward to members entries .

Again I say thank you Steve you did a great job .

Note
From my point of view I feel that there should be no need for any action by a mod to posts ...we should all enjoy the forum , all sharing our love for the hobby in a sensible and respectful way .....folk are welcome to pm me with any ideas and thoughts.

Time to enjoy yourself mate put the feet up and enjoy the sun. I'm sure you will still be looking at all the stuff that will be coming out just before Euro. now you can get stuck into the gray army. thanks for doing a thank lass job.

cheers mate

That's a shock!!

Sorry to see you hang up the Mod boots Steve, but fully respect your decision. Thank you for all the hard work you have done to keep the Forum on an even keel, it has been greatly appreciated.

Its not an easy job, especially when people get too wrapped up their own opinions and fail to understand or respect a Mods job and decisions. Bloody shame really and as grown adults those who gave you **** and grief behind the scenes ought to hang their heads in shame. Acting more like spoilt kids.

Best wishes Steve. Now a chance to really get into the painting.

Nail on head Chris. That is exactly the problem.

You're basically like a referee in a football match. And while I can understand that not everyone is always going to agree with every call a mod makes, it would be nice if they would at least just accept it and move on, and understand that all calls are made for a reason, with the best of intentions, and in the interests of the forum as a whole (and not on behalf of mates, acquaintances, groups or cliques).

Thanks for the supportive comments guys. Much appreciated.
