Hi guys, this is my finished Maori Warrior. I sculpted him in Magic Sculpt and painted him in acrylics. I have some earlier stages of this figure on my vBench. Hope you like the end result.I wanted to portray this old Maori Warrior with the contrast of European clothing and the Maori tribal culture, with his full face Moko (tattoo) , Green stone Tiki , ear pendants, his carved walking stick and Kaitaka (cloak) which is to represent one of Kiwi and Moa feathers. I wanted the main focus to be his tattooed face. I look forward to hear your comments.Kind regards John :)

Hey mate.

Now I know why we have'nt heard much from you in the last 6 weeks or so.

Another BiS coming up me thinks !!! Nice moko and pose. Looks like he is really comtemplating the future protest marches by the whanau. Can't wait to see him in the flesh.

What era is he ?

Hello John,

What an eyecatcher this is  ! The tattoos on the face indeed are very convincing. Also love the groundwork very much.

Congratulations from the other side of mother earth.

Johan ;)

Hi John

I am totally impressed with this one, the facial likeness the the old maori, is amazing, the Moko and the fact that no matter what clothes the old boy is gonna wear, he is still gonna wear his straw/grass cloak, so many people are gonna miss the detailing and artistry in this one.

Its just superb

Excellent job on everything John (y) I'm not sure what I'm impressed most with but the moko and the texture of the cloak are both highpoints, nice groundwork too.

Hello John,

Taht is a very lovley figurine !!! (y)

Keep up your good work.

The best wishes,

This is so beutiful John!

And a very rare subject too. I like the texture of the blanket and the painting of the tribal tattoes.

Makes me wish there were a kit for a Maori warrior, perhaps less old. ;)

Cheers

Hello John,

The stance, the ethnic dress, the moko... I agree with everything that has been said. Just wanted to add that I appreciate the fact that you took equal care with the 'European' clothing as you did with the other details.

I only have one word for this figure: SUPERB!

John, That is one stunning piece of miniature art. I love the contrast between the European clothing and Maori tattoos and blanket. Hope you're pleased with the results.~Gary
