Hi Mike
Have saved those Custer Pics
I got lucky and picked up the Bust off Ebay
Those pics will certainly get me to make a start painting it

Always said it was the best representation of Custer I have ever seen

Best regards Frank

Mike, reading your lament about Humbrol reminded me of my own consternation when I tried to use a tin of the "Super Enamel". That's when I made the switch to acrylics for undercoating and became an oiler. I used an old tin of the original Humbrol a while back for a specific job. It was still good after some vigorous shaking, covered the first coat and no brush strokes. What more could you ask for. Wish it was still available in that formulation.

I've been a Humbrol and Floquil user for years and find that by using Micro-Mark Tool's battery opperated paint stirrer that the paint goes on much better and actually lasts longer. Before, I used a popsicle stick to stir or shook it.......resulting in "not so good" coverage. Its about a $10 purchase (on sale now for $5.49.......just saw it listed on the email special )

Made quite a difference.

I also use a batt operated paint stirrer and it's great. Easy to clean between colors - just stick it in
one them tall bottles of Testor's Brush Cleaner and turn it on - but don't pull it out while its still on or you have a big splattery mess.

Humbrol's blacks are a real problem: none dry flat no matter how much mixed and they can make other colors dry splotchy. And there's some other colors that just won't dry flat no matter what. Anyone with a solution?

I've tried Model Master but the coverage is splotchy and not opaque, the paint does not flow well, and the more you "work" the paint when tryinging to blend or drybrush the shinier it dries.

I have acrylics standing by, but I'v developed too many Humbrol techniques over 30 or so years that I just can't give up on them...yet.

While I understand that Humbrol wanted back something of the airbrush market (most modelers today seem to prefer acrylics for spraying anyway) and tried to do this with the reformulated enamel range they should have kept them as they were and have developed a good acrylic range for airbrushing.

As it is, its quite frustrating to brush paint with "Super Enamel" and slowly I am moving to acryl and/ or oils.

Hi Mike
Even if is of the old jobs....... the quality is much high one..... and a lot puts into effect them..... compliments ;)
