Well I think this guy is just about cooked. I have been battling with the skin on the rest of the body all afternoon it still doesn't seem to have the same extreme highlights as the face so I might play with that more as of now I'm a little scared to keep going and mess up what I have.
Anyway as you all know it's the Gladiator bust from Young, after kind feedback the Maori style tattoo stayed but was changed. It was fun to paint and I learnt a lot on this one trying new flesh tones and tattoos for the first time. The stand won't stay, I'm putting in an order for a few turned wood ones. Hope you like him, any comments or critique are always welcome your feedback has helped me push my painting in the right direction.

Thanks,
Andrew

Andrew,

The extra work you've put into the skin tones has definitely paid off. It looks very realistic to me. Equally, the tatoo is a great work of art and creates a wonderful exotic look to the bust. My only suggestion would be to look at darkening the skin on the head to reflect his hairline, like a 5 o'clock shadow. Even with a shaved head his hair would create a slightly darker skin tone.

Apart from that, its a winner mate.

AGree totally, great paintwork.

Thanks Tony I did have a bit of a hair line in there but it got covered at some stage and I forgot to put it back ono_O
Thanks Marc glad you like it, and thanks for your input along the way I appreciate it(y)
Thanks Carl I noticed that too after I took the photos. Thanks for your help during the painting too(y)

I like how this has developed Andrew, went through quite a lot of stages! The tat is really impressive, love how you did it and the end result speaks for itself.

Great title by the way

Thanks Einion, your right it went through quite a few changes, he has quite a few layers of paint on him but it was good fun to try out a few different ideas. Glad you like him.
Couldn't resist on the title it's one of my favorite films.
