To right Steve, Steve Kirtley of SK Models was a terrific painter who loved painting mounted Napoleonics. Dont think he has time for painting now.

I agree with all of the above, but that will not be enough to make you succeed in selling the exact same goods as your competitors who are already well known. Try finding small European figure makers that you can run as "exclusive" lines to mix with the regular manufacturers. Use bigger and better pix -- expensive but worth it. While starting out, you may prefer to specialize in a few lines and/or periods; an overly large inventory of unsold figures that are rapidly going out of fashion can be a killer. People like to feel "special". Keep tags on what yr customers buy and send them a special Email when you get something new that fits in with their buying habits: "Hey, Bill! I just got these in and I thought of you..." Have a "six month list" of customers who haven't bought from you in that time. Drop them an Email and offer them a special offer on "something that I thought might interest you!' Advertize, both on the internet, hobby group journals and by having a stall at as many shows as you possibly can. Be prepared to make little or no profit for your first year of hard work while you are establishing yourself. Consider paying a professional for a striking business name and logo. Present a business plan to a banker. You may learn from him and even get a loan! Don't charge VAT to customers in countries like the U.S. that don't charge VAT. Be prepared to work yr rear end off, and I wish you the Best of British Luck!

I usually deal with elgreco for a number of reasons...great service, communication is top notch, delivery prices to Australia are fair and reasonable(plus no VAT!), great range which is continuously up to date, plus the site is easy to get around.
