At the end of the anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, I present to you my latest work, which represents the initial phase of this latest German offensive of 1944.
The figure, taken from an old plastic kit of the Dragon in 1/35 slightly modified, represents a German of the 150th Panzerbrigade during Operation Greif.
This unit, under the command of SS Col. Skorzeny, had the task of carrying out sabotage and disturbance missions in the American rear, in order to create traffic jams, occupy strategic bridges and modify the road signs to direct American reinforcements to other points of the front.
To do this, various captured and/or camouflaged American vehicles and uniform were used in order to blend in with the enemy; to recognize each other the Germans wore blue scarves.
The unit never reached the established goals, but they managed to create enormous panic in the American rear and a general distrust of any troop wearing the American uniform.
