Back in the day Verlinden did three 120mm figs that were fairly decent of the Op Nimrod guys.

Hi Jason. I recall the old 120 Verlinden's which I remember were quite reasonable and some of the company's better offerings in that scale. My comment was directed at the 'set piece' itself including the building structure.

Hi Hugo,
There is a problem with your scene, the S.A.S. attacked the embassy in groups of 4. It was the rear balcony that they abseiled down, only 3 made the balcony the third was hung up by his abseil ring. The other 3 soldiers made the attack and the window caught fire, the soldier hung up suffered third degree burns until he was cut free by a soldier on the roof. He fell hard, about ten feet on to the balcony and then made his way through the window following his three comrades.

So you are a figure too many on the balcony.

The frame charge was used on the front of the embassy and this was attacked from the adjacent buildings (so no abseil ropes), not used at the rear door as they went through it with a sledge hammer. I cannot remember about the roof.

The rear balcony if you are depicting the abseil down, then they did not use a frame charge but smashed the windows and lobbed in stun grenades. The rear balcony was a stand alone so nowhere to shelter from a blast from a frame charge.

So the scene is confused somewhat and not researched.

I also agree with Steve, good call Steve on the uniforms, I did not even look at these.

cheers
Richie

I'm surprised this subject was never tackled before by anyone but now Hugo and Nuno are doing it, it will certainly be the best version one can expect.
Fabulous work and concept.

Hello Mr. Richie

Thank you so much for your comment... I would ask you permission just to express a few issues... After I read your comment I want share with you we take more than 1 month to get the reserch. We read many books and there are lots of controversy what they use and dont use. f you see, the tactical vest we did its what is the museum and its the equipment of the SAS in the operation... In this point I can't agree with you. Of course you have your opinion, and I respect her, but I will take mine...

About the number of members in the balcony... You are right. They worked in team of 4, but you are forget a very important issue. When you do a composition, you need to respect a few issues of art. And they are in this concept. You must work with a impar number of figures, such 3, 5, 7 and so on, to respect the balance of the composition. And other aspect very important. In our sculpts we use Da Vinci principles, and if you see the composition are in pyramid form, where the rapel guy its the top of the pyramid, and the 5th element close the composition. If you allow express my opinion, you can buy the diorama and take out 1 of the figures and bring the realism you like and want, but I can assure it will be strange. But again... Its just my opinion..,

About the vests I already being help by Mr. Steve Leggett that is giving a tremendous help. With this help I can assure you we will improve the details and I already give instructions to do the corrections.

To finish, I just want express my gratitude to your comment because allow us improve, grow up and try to be better. Thank you so much for your patience and help...

Thank you Sir.

The vignette shows the SAS liberation action on May 5, 1980, after a group of six terrorists, calling themselves the "Democratic Revolutionary Movement for the Liberation of Arabistan," occupied the Iranian embassy in London on April 30, holding the embassy staff hostage and the Iranian embassy press attaché, Abbas Lavasani...

... killed.

The SAS action was televised live...:

Hi Hugo, it’s going to be a beautiful Vignette when finished and a fitting Tribute to the SAS. We know the work that goes into creating such scenes it’s not easy to tell such an heroic story but it’s coming along very well indeed.

We are looking forward to seeing the finished version. Keep up the good work

Hello Mr. Martin

The theory of 4 guys far down... They operate in teams of 4, but sometimes in the middle of action and confusion, the things can be different from what we was prepare, and the continue adoption to the situation is the main factor of Special Operations. And I can talk about this with a little knowledge.

The photos are very good. I will pass to my team to improve the models.

Thank you so much.

And the middle photo, bottom row, had five in the shot, unless I'm mistaken.

Hello Mr. Newtonk

In the photo it seems 5... But it's what I told before. Sometimes the reality and the actions change what we learn in theory and we have to adopt to the situation. The capability to adopt the new situations, most of the time its key for the mission success.

Thank you so much.

Hello Mr Steve

Thank you so much for the encourage words... You are 100% right... Do scenes like this its very hard task. You need to respect the historical part and the art issues, and get the balance between both. Its very difficult... Of course after everything is done, its very nice... I had a tremendous answer to this diorama and para dioramas. It's a tremendous success right now. The quantity of messages and emails Im receiving is just amazing. I this both subjects was very well chosen, but I believe too, people know and recognize our professionalism, and they know we will do a very good work....

We are doing lots of corrections, but the final result will be amazingggg...

Thank you so much.
With best regards

Hi Hugo yes your right sometimes you have to add a bit of artistry to the subject to make it more attractive to some customers. People that buy it will either do it as the box cover others will play around with it, that’s the fun thing about the hobby.

We have the same thing with our vignette people have told us they will add to it or change it a little. At the end of the day it’s theirs to do as they please. We as producers give them a base to work from if their so wish.

Just keep doing what your doing, it brings pleasure to people and that’s what counts.
