A mate of mine Andy Johnson presented me with this over Christmas! Its the Chindit I sculpted for El Greco Miniatures in 2009, I haven't seen too many of them painted up - only a couple of them at shows, but I'm sure you'll agree he's done a superb job with this one especially since he's not a usually a figure painter, he prefers AFV's!

I'm well chuffed with it!

Too funny, I just looked through the SBS of this figure yesterday. What a good friend to give you such a meaningful gift. He did a great job on the fabrics BTW, they are so matte and the ruck sack and blanket look awesome.

It looks great, very well painted and presented.
It's strange how you say you haven't seen many painted up and yet I keep seeing posts here and other forums complaining there's too many Germans and not enough British/Commonwealth figs. being released I'm not sure these complaints are quite justified myself.

Roger.

Aye, I know what you mean. The figure has sold extremely well its just that there isn't much evidence of it being painted up - not online anyway - Malcolm Cummings started a nice conversion of it on Military Modelling but he doesn't seem to have progressed too much with it which is a shame as I was keen on seeing what he did with it. Maurice Corry put those fantastic Arnhem figures out and I haven't seen too many of those painted up either!!

I think the new Commando has also being selling ok but at the end of the day the WW2 figure market is still turned on by German subjects and there have been some superb large scale kits out in 2010 - lets hope 2011 brings some more British/Commonwealth stuff?

Matt, it's nice to hear it's sold very well.

When I read the same old comments along the lines of "not another WWII German release" it makes me wonder if that person has purchased all the Brits & Commonwealth figs that are out there.
WWII isn't the subject I like to paint but I appreciate the subject when someone else has done a good job, sculpting & painting, British or German :)

I thought at first that it might've been a colour issue; all brown Battledress and oh-so-tricky Denison smocks that turned people off the British figures - large scale anyway, there are some great new small scale British/Commonwealth figures that've recently appeared on the market - but then U.S. subjects aren't exactly vibrant in their colour range either!

Perhaps is just down to the fact that American and German subjects are deemed to be 'cooler' than British/Com subjects? Perhaps I should look at working up a 'cool' British/Com variant?

Matt
