I am planning on painting verlindens 200mm bust The Roman Legionnaire.
What would be the best color to use for the helmet, shoulder and breast armor. It seems by the picture the armor is silver.

My favorite is Model Master Chrome Silver. Once its cured a wash of black oil with excess wiped off and then an overcoat of Tamiya smoke. Any edges or overlapping areas of armor I pin wash with black to delineate edges.

The best 'colour' to use for this would be something that simulates iron or steel well*. What's really important then is the type of paint you select.

For larger scales the best results are generally achieved with a buffable paint type - Humbrol Metalcote, Mr. Metal - or one of the ultra-reflective metallics like the one mentioned above by renarts; another good choice is made by Alclad. Even though you can apply Metalcote and Mr. Metal by brush the best effects are achieved by airbrushing them and Alclad can only be applied by spraying.

*Bearing in mind that legionaires would have been required to keep their armour in good condition (even if only to keep them busy!) which would indicate constant maintenance, including regular buffing or polishing.
