Having assembled the Quint bust a couple of weeks back and the backdrop I thought i'd post some progress pictures of the painting stage of the backdrop itself.
The backdrop depicts part of the cabin on the ORCA,i've used different reference photos for the colour of the cabin and have come up with a result I really like.
I've used Humbrol acrylic 65 for all the wood / planking colouring and just added a lighter version of this colour with added white to pick out the high points.
Anyone who knows anything about boats will know the hammering they receive on the water and especially the present of rust, for this feature I've used Humbrol Railway acrylic colour RC415 and added burnt sienna oil paints all around the areas where rust will show, again I've used reference photos for this,i've also added some mars black oil colour to replicate the stains also present, apart from the colours I've just mentioned,i just finished some of the other areas with different metalics from the Darkstar range.
I've mow started the process of painting quint, and updates will follow soon.
