Painting White

When you guys paint white, do you go dark to light or light to dark?

I paint with oils and go from dark to light.

Thanks Kreston. I paint with acrylics and usually paint dark to light. Lately though it seems that I'm having trouble with getting the white to build up to a nice white. Using vallejo and it vexes me....
