Hello all! Went to get a coat from my closet, for the days are getting much colder, and I realized that an avalanche had occurred! Anyway, I decided to build or relocate kits to other closets but this French Panhard 178 1/35 scale caught my eye as something I've never done before, also a chance to sculpt terrible looking figures for your viewing pleasure (displeasure) in the field of French Armored Crew members.

The last one is a very rough goal for what I'd like the diorama to be. The man laying will have his hands behind his head.

As always, comments and criticism are extremely welcome. (y)

A promising sculptor!

Critique:
Do you have any commercial heads and hands ? You have a good handle on the anatomy, posing and clothworks, commercial hands and heads would make a dramatic improvement .

I don't have any in 1/35 scale, I do have Ray's fantastic parts for 1/48 scale. I might go buy some 1/35 figures and start hacking heads and hands off.

I'd like to learn how to sculpt my own hands and heads so I have an unlimited range of emotion and story telling. I've been searching around and have found a few good tutorials on face sculpting but little to nothing on hands.

Thanks for the kind comments, these are numbers 6 and 7 of figures I've sculpted.

Hi Hiroshi, If I could offer one little piece of advice that might help with your overall anatomy, it's to make the shoulders wider and have the torso slope down to a narrower waist. That way the arms will hang more naturally once you add them. Keep up the good work!

Excellent ambition, and they are the most challenging aren't they! You are absoultely correct! The freedom of emotion and range is a huge incentive!!

A good hands sculpting article would be great ;)

Also if you are ever in St Louis (I see your in Kansas) let me or Joe Hudson know we can pow-wow and have a workshop! ;)

Hey Gordy, next time in the Show-Me I'll definitely send you a message! Thanks again for the kind words and sorry to get back to you so late, this time of year is very busy for me.

I have finished the sculpting of the second crew member. I plucked a random Verlinden resin head out of the box-o-spare parts. Still working on hands, they are relatively easier for me now assuming they are holding something.

Sorry for the odd angle. It was the only way I could get some decent lighting...
