“THE PORTRAIT”
So named as he is posing by the stream proudly as the portrait artist paints his family portrait for his proud parents to hang over the fireplace. That is why he is not to dirty. Only a little dust on his boots.

This is my version of Maurizio’s 12th Cavalry with thanks to Maurizio for such a great sculpt and to Marcello and Milan who was a great help on where to place the reds and greens. I left the seams of the boots as the natural leather in order to be a little different.

The green is probably a little to light but I am happy with it.

Hope that you like it . All comments welcome

Excellent work John. I like the placement of the figure next to the stream. Hope to see this in person in Dallas in September.

Hi John,
Congrats for your chef d'escadron, a nice figure to paint. As I said in my post "New Marshalls", it's very strange nobody thought to paint him as officer of whatever regiment of Hussars. It could be a good change, easy to make with a few things, but what possibilities of colours and paintings.
For your library, look at my new post "Gen.Lasalle and Joachim Murat" always on Painting section. One of my drawings and interesting details on their uniforms
All the best
Marcello

Hi John,
very nice work, you are my respect. The red and green colours are excellent. The base with water is good idea...
Keep it up...

John,

You are improving with this figure. Maybe some shading around the eyes will make them less popup.
The red and green are nicely excecuted. The stream is a very good choice.
Keep painting.

Marc

John,

Excellent work! I really wish you guys would state what type of paints you use. It would be a great help to "old" newbies like me.

Blind Pew, Rocky and Roc,
Many thanks for the nice comments.

Rocky: The figure was painted using a base coat of Acrylics with the highlights and shadows done in oils. The green and reds were sprayed with Testors dull coat in an airbrush to dull the oil sheen and then the lacework was completed after the dull coat. The boots were not sprayed to leave a sheen from the oil paint. Hope this helps.
Cheers
John
