I do not pretend to invite you to read a review with the quality of those offered by our friend NAP
His English is really better !!
But first of all I must thank PEGASO for his professionalism that is equaled bythe quality of their product.
I had made a mistake on my address by directly ordering them this sublime figure; and it is at their expense that the problem was fixed, thank you again and congratulations!
I would not do the history of French cuirassiers, very long, too complicated.
But for the little history, the nicknamed of this centaurs in the French Army: "Les Gros Frères"
Also be aware that these soldiers still exist in our army, represented by the 12th Cuirassiers, belonging to the 2nd Armored Brigade heir of the famous 2nd armored division camnanded in WWII by Géneral Phillipe Leclerc de Hautecloque.
Leclerc (sic)tanks have of course replaced horses.
Now what we have in doc :

ZC ,

A wonderful open box excellent references of an excellent model

Why did this cause controversy in France ?...just wondering

Nap
The controversy concerns the pose of the rider, looking down, some would have preferred a martial pose.
It seems that the chosen pose shows a jumper afraid of the enemy, or ashamed, so defeated.
Some would have preferred a pose like the paintings of DETAILLE

An_Officer_of_the_Cuirassiers-_by_Edouard_Detaille.jpg

Finally much ado about nothing!

Nice review of a must have figure, will be adding this to the grey army at Euro for sure. For me the rider is looking ahead full of concentration.........I'm sure I would have been in similar circumstances....LOL

Only one Eagle ?;)
1417 flags (including british) taken from the enemy were at the Hotel des Invalides before the German invasion in 1940, they were burned by the Governor of the monument that these flags are not the spoil of the invaders.

Now it only remains in the Cathedral of Invalides that some of them ...
Les-Invalides--28-.jpg

And who is the most famous man after J.C -> N 1
Les-Invalides--47-.jpg

ten British standards were captured and presented to Bonaparte at waterloo
....... that worked out for him then .........
And who is the most famous man after J.C -> N 1
...... Nelson Mandela

Only stating an overlooked point Del and anyway it is really the battle of Mont St Jean :D

ten British standards were captured and presented to Bonaparte at waterloo
....... that worked out for him then .........
And who is the most famous man after J.C -> N 1
...... Nelson Mandela

Yes Nelson Mandela is famous, like Gandhi, Mère Theresa, Jean-Paul II, Winston Churchill.... but I'm not sure they fascinate so many people (and that's a pity) as Napoleon (the 1st).
And just for the anecdote, I had the chance to see, meet and talk with Nelson Mandela.
But this is another story ...

Nice review and a good selection of resources concerning cuirassiers. Note that the plate showing horse furniture shows yellow facings on the saddlecloth and portemanteu which indicates the Polish cuirassier contingent and not the French regiments apart form the 14th when they moved from the Dutch to the French army in 1810 but whose blue was lighter.

I got mine a couple of weeks ago and still open the box and stare lovingly at the contents of the box.
