Progress today, Oil pin-wash to the rivets and seams to the helmet and straps,

P1140418 (2).JPG

Its only a subtle change that I'm not sure the camera has picked up, but it is there.

Hair painted then shadow added to the tunic and a slightly lighter main colour wash applied to soften the edges and another coat to the red sash, creases worked on with the shirt colour and the cloth light bag sash, and work on the leather belt, then finishing off with the oil pin-wash to the seams on the armour.

That's it for today Guys

Cheers

You have nailed that armour ..looks great

The way the sash has been done looks really good as well

Will you dirty/weather the coat up with pastels ?

Thanks for sharing

Happy benchtime

Thanks Nap, I am pleased with the sash and armour, the coat weathering I shall do with stippling areas with Davy's Gray artist's oils like I did on the NW frontier guy in the native coat.

Cheers

It's coming up, geoff. He looks really good. Even progress on the helmet is clearly visible. Keep going, keep up the good work. Have fun :)

Today's work,

Helmet and chin straps fixed in place, they certainly make a difference. Coat and light areas dirtied up a bit using Davy's Gray and a touch of dark brown Artist's oil which was stippled on.

He looks a bit shiny but the Artist's oils are still a bit wet so it should dry more matt.

So I think he is finished once the base is drilled and fitted.

Cheers Guys for your encouraging comments, stay safe.

Bit late to the party, but glad I caught this Geoff. Superb finish, love the muted metal and the face.

"Better late than never", Henk and many thanks. I don't like really polished metalwork to me it has no character and I love painting faces, I think it makes the figure.

Cheers and stay safe

Will you Matt the oils down in a heat box or let dry naturally ?

Have you got the next travelling towards the bench sorted then ...? LOL

I have never liked this bust, but you have done an excellent job of it. Well painted as always.

Thanks Mate, I shall let it dry naturally, don't have a heat box and the oven would be too fierce.;)

Think this will be next,

P1140392 (2).JPG

after a garden gnome and a toadstool from the garden that I promised Helen about 2 years ago I would repaint, so it's out with the Humbrol enamels if they haven't dried up in their tins.

Cheers
