Any thoughts on this face? Its still wet so I know it will change a bit. The beard still needs work. Thanks for your comments.

I use oils for skin and acrylics for almost everything else. I found when I painted oils on hair you lost a lot of detail and it looked satin.
You might next time want to try acrlyics.
The skin tones look good though I must say.

Hi James.
Good start.
Maybe just a few tiny lights at the extreme highlights?
I think the beard could use some additonal shadows and highlights as well, but just subtly.

Good luck!

Cheers,
Adrian

Persevere witht he acrylics they are really worth it.
Some darkening around the eye socket might give a bit more depth mate.
The skin tone looks very ggod. Something hard to achieve is making it "go" with the rest of the colours.

Okay not as much as I had hoped. Tomorrow I will put some oils on the leather to bring it more to life. Hard to stay in the lines even with optivisors.

Then have to do do shadows and highlites with the red. Maybe I can get the belts painted after that.

This looks much better to the naked eye than in front of a camera. At least I can see a couple of things I must fix quickly before I use oil. I am going to lightly go over the leather with mars orange I think. If I do the other leathers in a darker shade would I use mars brown or vandyke brown to bring them warmth? Also what do you use to give the leather edges a bit of worn look?? Thanks for any thoughts on the matter.

Did a bit more during the night. I cant seem to get the hang of blending acrylics. Tried all of what I've read in my books and still it is escaping me. But here is a bit more. Painted shirt yellow and painted the studs on the quilted over shirt. Hope today to do the belts so it looks a bit more homogeneous. Really need to finish the red epaulets too.

Comments and tips most welcome.

Not much today. It was a day off so had to play taxi and do shopping. Had a few minutes while waiting for wife to get ready for Christmas party so painted then glued on the sash end, drilled out spear point and glued on shaft. Hopefully more tomorrow.

Okay this has been an off and on again think. I tried painting the shield and it sucked so I have cheated and found a nice leopard skin on google. I printed it out and applied with micro foil adhesive and then trimmed. Got most of the painting done and while its not great I think its the best figure I've done yet. Still so much more to learn. Oh and the shield still needs more work.
