I am after photos or images of the British army Cartridge box used by The Guards during the Napoleonic war's. I have no reference for the back of the box or the bottom. I need details of the buckles on the bottom and where the buff belt attaches to the rear of the box. :)
I have an idea it might be the same as ACW cartridge boxes.
Image 1 is the bottom of ACW box
Image 2 bottom of a Rifles box 1808
Image 3 Back of a Rifles box 1850s
Image 4 ACW box discont the two slides that fit onto a belt.

Thanks Roger, I think this is a Cartridge box issued in 1804 for service abroad, not the 1808 pattern. These have "tins" for keeping the rounds separate.
Appreciated anyway Mate.

I have just found this one Roger, It has the tins and the wooden block. It would appear to be British Army of the period 1815. I will leave it a while, see what else turns up.

Thank you for your time, Roger, appreciated.
I also have some books on the period but not showing what I want. :(
Seen a lot too. :)
Cheers mate I have one more avenue to try.

As a Napoleonic Reenactor, I would go with a combination of the photo's shown, all of which we used - photo CB 6 shows the straps crossing behind and then buckling. CB 2 shows the brass 'button' with a strap. Strap had a hole to go over the button and secure the flap. CB 8 shows the wooden block drilled for cartridges [we had 4 rows of 6 holes on each side - turn it over when one side done!] Tin tray carried odds and ends - rag, spare flint or 2, worm, spare vent prick etc. Would have thought that the Guards were similar - perhaps a unit badge on the outside of the flap? We covered Canadian Militia 1812 - 1814, but were issued standard govt equipment.....

Ian,
Thank you for the reply, I used to re enact the American civil war and the Cartridge box is similar, fixes to the shoulder belt in the same way. Just wondered if the Guards used a different pattern box (seeing that they were the Kings troops).
It was nice to get it cleared up.
Thanks again
