As a graphic artist/Visual Artis, I'm also concerned about Piracy. I just literally go off the phone with eBay. She told me THERE IS a way to combat piracy on eBay. I'm going to start doing so and encourage others to do the same. If you fine any item that IS pirated, simply scroll down and look for REPORT THIS ITEM. She told me that once you do they will look at that sellers entire account. Every time I go on eBay there's tons of venders who pirate stuff. I FELL for it a couple of times and I've replaced those items I've been able too. The rest won't be painted by me. Just a heads up if anyone else wants to help put an end to this nasty process. Jim

Hi James

Thanks for sharing this

I believe that only the actual company being ripped off can get a listing removed ...happy to be proved wrong ....but reporting as you say highlights it

I hate these thriving scum and so blatant as well

I fell for it Nap. They were the first figure's I really purchased and I didn't know what I was getting into. I'm going to replace the rest over time. There's two that I cannot but that' about it. The rest WILL be replaced. Maybe I'll use them for practice and nothing else.

Hi Jim

You won’t be the last , you could always put a “looking for “ thread in the Marketplace once you have 50+ posts

Look forward to seeing what’s on the bench

I've been there...
You are forgiven my son......
But don't let it ever happen again.....
Go in peace.....

Very well,. It seams as if I cannot do ANYMORE reporting. IT looks like it's one and done. Which I don't like. I'll have to wait and see what happens.

eBay you DISAPPOINT ME

Think about it James and don't let it spoil your hobby. There is a sea of fakes, forgeries, copies etc on Ebay, it is not in their interest to do anything about it, they pay lip service to it only but it will never stop.

Enjoy your painting and buy from those you know and trust.

I report items all the time. I'll add the name of the maker, individual or company, eg, "This is a copy of a figure made by Lincoln Wright/Scale120". But it feels much like the story of King Canute's ministers, trying the beat back the ocean.

Also, it would be helpful if they acknowledged the report. For example, if you're a member of the IMDB (www.imdb.com), and you offer a correction, or an addition, to any record, you will receive an email that they received your item and are reviewing it. Even though there's no followup to inform you of the outcome, at least you know that it was captured. eBay doesn't do that, in my experience. And the sellers are still active.

This isn't to say not to report them, but it might be a lost cause.

Prost!
Brad
