Only just seen this. An absolutely tremendous and most informative review (again) by Felix.

Great stuff and many thanks for highlighting a figure (quite incredible QC and details for a part-IM piece) which most of us would never have known existed had it not been for this review.

Great review Felix. Please re-consider more reviews. Trolls are not worth worrying about. There are enough members here who value your posts.
The only way for us to defeat those trolls is to support each other whenever they crawl out. We do not have to be offensive in return; If each and every one of us simply posted nothing other than "your views are unjustified and unwelcome", every time they appear, they would soon stop.
As for the figure, as authentic, affordable and impressive as it is, I will pass. From your photos the detail seems very soft to me. I think it will be hard to paint effectively and I suspect the box art is somewhat enhanced or photo shopped. It will be interesting to see some completed members projects but I'll stick with the Caldercaft Taisho which I was lucky to have bought decades ago and have been too timid, as yet, to build..

Actually the detail on the kit is excellent and is better than some of the resin cast kits. I am very much surprised when I first opened the kit box and saw the fine detail on the armour. Due to the glare and reflection from the glossy plastic especially the red ones, it is difficult to take a decent detail close up picture. I had taken hundreds of photos for this review and those were the better ones which I had used. All photos were taken under natural daylight.

Here are some build ups from a Japanese website.

Fantastic review. I very much appreciate the research and detailed information. Great stuff.

I believe that Model Kasten--the decal maker mentioned above--has also published a "how to" book in connection with this figure. I've looked for it on Amazon.jp, Ebay, and HLJ, but no luck so far.

I don't read or speak Japanese, so I'd appreciate any help from those who do in tracking down a vendor for the book, or perhaps getting its ISBN so I can search for it myself.

Thanks.

Chris

Thank you so much, Felix, for the links and the photos of the built-up figure. Excellent stuff. Very helpful and very much appreciated. I will contact MK about buying a copy of the book.
