Hi, I would like to share with you two news.

First one is a new release from www.siskin-miniatures.com. This is a little unusual subject - probably more familiar portrait of a fictional character for polish figures' painters. To be honest he looks similar to my uncle ;), who owns and works on a farm... :D.

Second one is that this figure won a couple of trophies on Polish Figure Festival :) which took place this weekend in Torun (Poland).

I am curious too!

He has SS army uniform under toulup, his belt buckle has Russian imperial two headed eagle ( and incidentally his belt somehow goes under his armpits?) that isnt ww2 anyway - so I am very confused

The belt could be a hand-me-down from the from the pre-WW1 partitions when eastern Poland was under Russian control.
What I can't get my head around is the retention of the SS insignia. While the clothing is perfectly re-usable, I would have thought the insignia would be considered repulsive.

Andrew

P.S. The face sculpt is excellent and full of character.

Andrew, it is possible of course, I doubt the sentiment towards Russia in those parts would be dissimilar to those you state for SS uniform. Mind you, a Polish farmer isn't necessarily a type that would bother with such dilemmas. Works as a belt - its a belt:)

Piotr might have some sort of reference that can join this all...

sorry, but I don't like the face at all. It looks like there are muscles on top of the skin on the cheeks (and on the pics it also appears there are a lot of airbubbles?). Might work as a zombie though? I do like all the details on the uniform and equipment.

Cheers,

Gino

I'm sorry for the delay in answer, but I caught the flu (when is 30C outside) and currently I'm in the bed...

1. Thank you for all comments - the figure was made just for fun and I'm happy to see the impact here it made... :)
2. The figure is based freely on the number of short stories by Andrzej Pilipiuk, a renowned Polish writer.

The main character is an elderly alcoholic, moonshine producer, poacher, amateur exorcist and fighter against all sorts of supernatural forces dwelling around Wędrowycz's village, from the aliens to ancient demons and from Russian mafia to tax inspectors.

First appearing in Pilipiuk's debut, a short story Hiena (Hyena) in 1996, with time Wędrowycz became one of the most easily recognizable characters of Polish speculative fiction and humorous prose. More of his description can be found here _> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jakub_Wędrowycz

I perceive myself this kind of houmor between The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Boris Vian texts.

His Hauptmann jacked was taken from dead soldier during ww2, his Russian belt was borrowed from his friend... I'm pretty sure that nobody in Poland (farmer or not) would ever wear ss-jacket :) in real life. Gino - no, those are not air bubbles but just texturing of the sculpture.

I hope it solves the mystery...

BRegards, Piotr
