Hi JH

Nice start on the armour ....what are you using ...metallics or NMM ?

Following with interest

Have fun

I would say I use a mixed method. I use Vallejo metal colors + black and inks (at the end) in a NMM fashion, except for "artifical" reflections and bouncing lights caused by the environment.

Very nice, I like the use of mixed techniques it really does give the best results IMO and you are doing a cracking job with it.

Cheers Simon

That face is tremendous. As Nap said, stunning job on a tight space like that. Great execution.

Armour is lookin great to match. Can't wait to see the basing. I have a soft spot for winter / snow effects :)

Looking very good so far.

I really like this approach, I am not a fan of "pure" NMM myself.

Haven't got much time at the bench, worked on leather and cloth. The shield will be a pain in the a** but I have a plan for that as well (uploaded the heraldry I planned, sorry for the potato quality).

Loving what you've done so far, the tones and detail are superb.
As for the plan, is it a cunning plan? (as Baldrick would have)

Thanks Malc. It is more like a "be reasonable" plan with drawing a stencil just to make sure I will not mess up the proportions for the heraldry :D

Hi JH

Some great updates on this , the piece is really coming together , the armour works well

Good start on the shield.....looking forward to seeing more

Will you put any damage on the shield ?

Looking forward to seeing more

Happy benchtime

Yep, plannig to do some cuts and dents here and there but nothing too serious, I do not want to overdo it.

Small update on the shield and some metal parts. The shield looks kinda dumb with the visible brushstrokes since one was painted horizontally, while the other is vertical (not that the visible brushstrokes don't look dumb enough themselves), in addition the chalkiness of the dark sand and ivory colors from Vallejo don't improve the overall picture. I will try to fix this with some additional blending and dry brushing after I painted the heraldry.

Hmm seem to have missed a few updates, this has come quite a way since then and is looking terrific, loving the dark menacing character you've given him.

Cheers Simon

Excellent progress. I have a winged hussar to do in my stash and I shall come back to this thread for armour tips when I get round to it.

Hi JH

The shields getting there , blending should sort out any issues , though must admit I use hardly any Vallejo now preferring AK 3rd Gen

Have you done more on the armour ? ......looks more worked on ......might be my iPad !

Looking forward to seeing more

Happy benchtime

I am also using more AK products, I only use Vallejo paints for leather and wood stuff. For white, purple and yellow I am planning to purchase Kimera paints made from one pigment.
