Agreed
And inconsistent... On 2 different days, in same post office, same parcel to Germany will cost you different and also one will need declaration, another will get raised eyebrow - you dont need to declare anything through EU.

Mind you, try dealing with Ukrainian post office- you will soon become best pals with good old RM

Seconded! have just been to PO myself to post a ruck of parcels, the guy in front of me refused to pay £5.00 to send his, he said the contents weren't worth that!
The PO uniform should be changed to stripy jumpers and masks!!

It's all relative of course, you guys don't realise how good you've got it with Royal Mail. Have a quick look around on the net at other postal services. The price is increasing in every postal service worldwide as they try to cope with/take advantage of the booming online shopping phenomenon.
Try using Australia Post. I just posted a figure kit ,the Hinchliffe Ray Lamb Samurai Taisho to Germany, which is a very heavy kit of course, and it cost $55.00 AUD, that's 36.00 pound sterling or 43.00 Euro or $56.00 US Dollars......I'd only estimated $35.00 so I'm a big fan of cheap postal services like Royal Mail.
I've bought hundreds of figures online and the Royal mail post to Australia has always been the cheapest I've had to pay.

Oh, I forgot to remind you all of another great service that Royal Mail provides to all the citizens of the UK.
The protection of all vulnerable citizens from the severe trauma and mental disturbance of HORROR COMICS!!!....that's a service everyone just takes for granted.

Have you tried them out Carl

I have Ron,

My mate was getting married on the 3rd May in Australia. I paid 75 quid for his kilt to be shipped from here in Scotland on 3 day service to be picked up from me on the 26th. The delivery guy (apparently)went to every unit in the complex and asked where my work was. He even went right next door to an employment agency where our massive sign is right beside it and stated they'd never heard of us, even though we see them daily and our colleagues share the same smoke shelter.. He also stated he asked the security office, where incidently we pick up our milk from every morning and he said they'd never heard of us. When I phoned to say the parcel hadn't been collected they said the driver missed the pick up and not the driver was either.A) So thick he couldn't read a huge sign 5 feet away or lying through his teeth.

I had to contact them letting them know the parcel hadn't gone. It went on the 29th with a guarantee it will get there in 3 days which would be the 2nd.......it's now the 4th and it's still not arrived..he got married yesterday.

75 quid down the gurgler. I posted a not too good review on their website and quel surprise that's one they don't show.

They have no phone number so had to go through my sons face book account...what a scunner.

Never again, but thanks for listening....I feel much better now.

I'm contacting them on Monday to ask for a refund and will ask them to change their 3 day express service to 8 day rip off service.

Well Belgian postage charges are :
Parcel no tracking 0 to 350g 8,60€ 350g to 1Kg 12,90€ 1 to 2Kg 17,20€
with tracking 0 to 10Kg 16,20€ so with tracking 1 to 2 Kg is cheaper than without tracking !!!!!!!!!!!!
Strange world you said ?

This follows on from the previous thread in early April : http://www.planetfigure.com/threads...s-from-2-april-impact-on-your-business.55609/

Just be careful of the dimensions (so below 8cm in height or under 15 x 15 x 15cm) and you should still be in the small parcel category....

Parcel2go is good overall - just be careful which company is collecting/delivering. They have good prices for overseas with Fedex, UPS and TNT. UKMail still use Royal Mail for the "final mile" for some of their options. But remember that these companies will charge VAT for domestic deliveries, as opposed to Royal Mail so in that respect you may end up paying more after all.

Being a bit biased as I work for them I have to say DPD provide a pretty good service but they aren't that cheap although the Royal Mail is doing their very best to cost more it seems

I for one have noticed the increase in postage and as mentioned there does seem they are wishing to price themselves out of the market, also trying to make as large a profit before selling privately.
I am not sure of Mark S comments. SmalI and light items ok but see the huge increase when sizes change or weights, they are far from cheap.

I think the cost of Royal Mail postage would have been no cheaper than he paid if not more, to Australia, and i have posted large orders there, you can be looking at post into the hundreds so I strongly disagree with his views on our UK postal service being cheap.

For example to Australia up to 2kg is £24.65 and that is with minimal cover and providing dimension do not exceed length of 60 cm (90cm combined volume) , outside that prices rocket immensely and I mean rocket so Royal Mail is far from cheap.

It is unfortunate but eventually, no matter how hard we try, some of these increases will be reflected on the price of kits, many myself included are trying to keep the hit from the customer and taken from within our profit margin but this can only be sustained for so long.
It is true that we have to consider how much a person is prepared to pay for postage of a £28 figure for example. Increases may seem slight and not noticeable if buying a hundred pound iPhone etc but when it starts hitting a fifth or quarter of the initial kits cost then it can put customers off, with metal figures even more. Then loss or cover of item needs to be taken into consideration and added as required.

As Steve says Parcels2go are a very competitive service, I have used many times and they are door to door, but agreed with the vat could be more expensive but generally a lot cheaper overseas if exceeding RM small parcel dimension.

The good thing is compensation is normally priced better and full tracking where RM charge more for all the extras.
It is a shame that in the UK we have no option when posting standard letter 60p with no cover or tracking and providing dimensions allow it to fall through the required size guide. if containing anything other than cards or letters, ie a resin rifle in an envelope, you are in the small parcels category.

RM have the monopoly and seem to want to get as much as they can from the public.
