Just noticed on Hannants website that they are unable to post any enamel paints including within the UK. They also impose a limit of 4 bottles/jars of acrylic paint per order. They claim that this is caused by new Royal Mail instructions.
Has anyone else come across these limits?

Geoff

I think Stu from Stormtroopers was having problems with posting printers ink but I thought that was just abroad Geoff
Steve

Yeah Steve I thought the limits applied only to international mailing. Maybe Hannants are just being a bit pedantic.
How many of us are dependent on mail order for buying paint of any kind?

Geoff

I would be interested to know more, especially within the UK. As Geoff said a lot of us do rely on mail order, my circumstance isn't major as for a drive I can collect humbrols but a little concerned about varnishes and those special paints that shops don't usually stock.
Be interested to see how the sales at shows go with this new legislation, could be a good time to stock paint :)
Just kidding, but shows may be our best bet.
I have looked for the policy on the Royal Mail page but it is a minefield unless you know the relevant section, for me anyway
Best wishes

Thanks Billy,
Yes I see now under both customer and business.
Now excuse my ignorance if I am way off :), but looking at this seems it will dramatically affect us in the UK. I am sure some businesses rely on the Royal Mail to deliver the goods even before sale to us, are couriers likely to fall under the same legislation ? I would like to hear more information if anyone knows as even if we live close to stores it appears they may themselves have issues, then we also have the liquid cement and white spirit which would also fall under this category. Delivery by surface mail will also have problems as that eventually comes under Royal Mail when entering UK.

This is the announcement taken from Hannats website;

"Following recently completely unannounced new rules we regret we can no longer despatch certain items through the post by Royal Mail. These include Xtracolor and Humbrol enamel paints, Alclad products, liquid glues etc etc. Many of our orders are having these items removed and destroyed and then they are returning the rest of the parcel to us. ParcelForce say they can still accept them for now. If you put any of the affected items into your cart you will not now see the cheaper Royal Mail postage options. We will refund on any of these items in your orders that are alraedy placed. Acrylic paints are not affected though we are only allowed 4 pots maximum per order now. This is to the UK and Overseas. We do realise that this is all ridiculous but sadly there is nothing we can do."

Geoff

Thanks Geoff
So we at least have parcel force for the time being, it looks very much that purchasing paints and solvents is now going to hit our wallets with the postage additions. More bulk buying or a stock up when we can get them in person
Best wishes
Graham
